Cleveland Rape Crisis Center

3201 Euclid Avenue, Cleveland, Ohio 44115, 391-3912

The Cleveland Rape Crisis Center will remain open. The Center received an extension from Cuyahoga County on the time limit to raise $11,000 in matching funds for a county contract totalling $37,000. Half the matching fund amount was due on July 1. The other half is due by December, 1979.

This is the first time that Cuyahoga County has awarded funds to women's groups. County Commissioner Ed Feighan was instrumental in working out the contract with the Center.

Education for Freedom

of Choice in Ohio

As Education for Freedom of Choice in Ohio (EFCO) approaches the end of its first year of work in the Cleveland pro-choice movement, it will be welcoming a new staff person and changing Executive Directors.

Mary Griesinger, the present Director, will resign her position in August to become a 'voluntary mother." Prior to working at EFCO, Mary was a law student and an intern at the ACLU, specializing in women's rights issues. While motherhood will mean a change of pace for her, Mary plans to continue her work as a pro-choice advocate through her position as a member of the Board of the Cleveland Abortion Rights Action League (CARAL). In addition, future plans include completion of work toward her law degree.

Chris Link will assume the position of Executive Director.

EFCO's new Associate Director is Susan Lipkin, formerly of Toledo. There Susan worked for two years at Toledo Medical Services that city's only outpatient abortion clinic. She has been active in the abortion rights movement through the statewide prochoice coalition, Freedom of Choice. Ohio (FOCO). She will be living in Cleveland Heights and looks forward to taking an active role in the work of Cleveland's feminist community. Susan's move to Cleveland and her new job with EFCO will expand the statewide pro-choice communications network and increase our power and strength in Cleveland.
